The term "Hard Boring" or "Hard Turning" comes from the fact that the material has been "heat treated" and needs to be machined after it is in the "hardened" state. Normally, in the past, this could only be achieved through honing or grinding the material off.
Hard boring eliminates the need for Honing or Grinding, with the finish and tolerances associated with these, otherwise, added operations. |
